Impaired Driving
The Alberta Motor Association administers and delivers the Alberta Impaired Drivers Program (AIDP) for Alberta Transportation. The AIDP offers two courses Planning Ahead and the IMPACT Program to convicted impaired drivers to complete as a condition of license reinstatement.
Planning Ahead for first time convicted impaired drivers is a one day educational course with a focus on how impairment affects driving abilities, the importance of zero tolerance for impaired driving, and how to separate drinking and other drug use from driving.
IMPACT Program for those with two or more convictions for impaired driving is a weekend live-in alcohol and/or drug use assessment program and pre-treatment course designed to help you reflect on how the use of alcohol and other substances is affecting your life. You are required to remain on site for the entire weekend.
For more information or to register for the AIDP, contact 780-430-8811 in Edmonton or toll-free province-wide at 1-800-272-5698.
